About Eva Aquapanel

Developed by an Indian startup company called Uravu Labs, Eva is a device that makes drinking water from the air. Eva provides a source of drinking water where conventional sources such as groundwater and surface water are absent or hard to sustain through the seasons.

Vision

Uravu has the vision of putting an end to the drinking water crisis, so none would have to walk long miles in the Sun to fetch water. Drinking water supply is also stated in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) for 2030. Water from the atmosphere could solve this problem not just for the current population but also for generations to come.

Features

  1. All Conditions: Device will perform in the range from 10% to 90% relative humidity
  2. Efficiency: Each aquapanel can collect 15-20L of safe water per day
  3. Compact design: Easy and convenient to transport, handle and install at any place
  4. Decentralized: It does not rely upon any of existing infrastructure for power or water.
  5. Modular: Being modular gives EVA the freedom to scale up to any level
  6. 100% Renewable: EVA runs completely on solar thermal energy to generate water

How does it work?

Mac Indiegogo App

So how is Uravu developing a product like this?

To briefly describe the premise of this idea, the Earth's atmosphere contains around ten times the amount of water present in all of the Earth's rivers put together. In addition to this abundant quantity, it is replenished every 7 to 8 days by the natural water cycle of evaporation and condensation.

But with 71% of the Earth's surface covered with water, why would we tap into the atmosphere to meet our drinking water needs? Multiple reasons have pushed innovators in this direction. To begin with, 96% of this water is saline and needs complex treatment. Specific to India, 70% of all the water supplied in the country is contaminated and does not meet international standards of safe drinking water. Zooming into urban population of India, 100 million in its major cities are affected by this drinking water crisis.

Eva uses a hygroscopic material to convert water vapour into water using solar thermal energy. At night, the hygroscopic material adsorbs water from the air. During the day, water molecules are separated from it by heating, using the Sun's energy. This results in distilled water, still unfit for human consumption. A cartridge is installed to add minerals and the right pH level to make the water drinkable. This entire mechanism is housed in what Uravu calls an ‘aquapanel', since it resembles a rooftop solar water heater.

The Eva aquapanel is a single off-grid unit of 2.5m x 2.0m x 0.2m. One such unit can provide 20 litres of drinking water everyday, which is sufficient for a family of four people for cooking and drinking purposes. The water produced by EVA is Type-II water as per ASTM D1193 and ISO 3696.

Smart and Eco-friendly Water Generator

In the context of climate change, environmental consciousness is a relevant point of view to judge new innovations from. All thumbs-up to Eva in this regard since it runs entirely on renewable energy. This passive energy design combined with a system that has almost no moving parts means that its operational cost is zero. In addition to these features, this atmospheric water generator has the potential to eradicate bottled water which has been a source of plastic waste for decades all over the world.

Keeping up with the age of smart devices, Eva is designed to collect real-time data on parameters such as weather conditions, water production and quality, and rate of usage. Predictive maintenance and remote monitoring are added bonuses since they enable timely replacement of the mineral cartridges and filters. Users will have access to a dashboard online to check all these real-time parameters. User experience is, thus, enhanced with this intelligent platform building.

Uravu is currently in the process of developing their first prototype of the Eva aquapanel. Having signed up to participate in the international competition Water Abundance XPrize, they are among the top 5 finalists from 98 participants, and the only team from India. They received a milestone prize of USD 50,000 in April 2018 which they are using to continue developing the product.

We are pleased to announce the release of Indigo 7.4.0 and 7.4.1. The primary focus of these releases was to make Indigo fully macOS Catalina (10.15) compliant with 64-bit versions of all Indigo processes. The changes in 7.4 can be grouped into four categories:

  • macOS Catalina Support and the end-of-life of AppleScripts targeting Indigo Server

  • New General Features and Usability Improvements

  • New and Improved Z-Wave Device Support

  • Mac mini mid 2011 catalina. Bug Fixes, Scripting and Developer API Changes

As we state above, the primary feature of Indigo 7.4 is compatibility with macOS Catalina (10.15), including support for macOS Dark Mode. With the macOS release of Catalina, Apple has begun requiring all applications to be 64-bit. While the Indigo GUI client and plugins have been 64-bit for a long time, we've been delaying the implementation of a 64-bit version of the Indigo Server for a variety of reasons, but with Catalina we no longer have an option. One major reason that we didn't move to it sooner is because our AppleScript implementation is dependent on libraries that are not 64-bit. As we wrote in a blog post several years ago, AppleScript is not the future of Indigo scripting/extensibility, but we wanted to give customers as much time as possible to convert.

With the release of Indigo 7.4, we are officially deprecating AppleScripts that target the Indigo Server directly (tell application 'IndigoServer' and using terms from 'IndigoServer') as well as disabling embedded AppleScripts in Conditions and Actions. Scripts that don't target the Indigo Server will continue to work if executed as a script file from the Execute Script action. We have an article on our website that discusses a variety of solutions to replace any AppleScripts that you have that target the Indigo Server, and we will continue to update that article with more information as different solutions are identified for conversions. We also have a great community sub-forum where you can post your AppleScripts and get help (often within hours) converting them to Python or suggestions of newer non-scripting solutions (like Plugins).

Because Indigo 7.4 no longer supports AppleScript conditionals in Trigger and Schedules, we've added the ability to use embedded Python script conditionals. This makes creating powerful script conditionals possible using Python's simple syntax and Indigo's object model for inspecting and testing device states, variable values, and more.

This makes creating powerful script conditionals possible using Python's simple syntax and Indigo's object model for inspecting and testing device states, variable values, and more.

To further assist with converting AppleScripts, we've added a new menu item to the Help menu, Show AppleScript Usage in Event Log, that will identify items that need to be updated in your database (Indigo also does these checks on server startup). This will write the information to Indigo's Event Log window for easy perusal. http://uilwfe.xtgem.com/Blog/__xtblog_entry/19202316-boxy-svg-3-33-25#xt_blog. Finally, check out the Indigo and Python wiki article to learn more about scripting Indigo using Python and the Indigo Object Model.

We've added several new Light/Appliance Control actions to help you create scenes more easily. Match On State to Device will match any number of devices that support a binary (on/off) state to a specified device. This allows you to create something which behaves similarly to how Insteon direct links between devices work. For instance, you can have a door sensor defined by a plugin that can automatically turn on/off the lights inside a closet - those lights can be any kind of light that supports on/off like a WiFi or Hue bulb, a Z-Wave or Lutron Caseta switch, a lamp plugged into a Insteon module, etc. This could be done before using scripts, but now it's significantly easier since no scripting is required.

But that's not all - often times you want to match the on state or brightness of a device to the value of an Indigo variable. Done! Check out the Match Brightness to Variable and Match On State to Variable actions. Now it's even easier to control a group of devices from variable values. This will also really help those that use external data of some kind that's stored in variables to integrate more directly into the Indigo environment.

This release adds support for several new and updated Z-Wave devices from a variety of manufacturers including Aeotec, Fibaro, FortrezZ, Hank, HeatIt, Horstmann, Inovelli, MCOHome, Neo, Popp, and Zooz. We've also fixed several bugs in the: Z-Wave and Insteon interfaces (including ones for the Z-Rain and Insteon Siren), Mac Client, Indigo Touch discovery process, and handling of the python exit() system call.

This release was a huge undertaking and contains a lot of behind-the-scenes changes to support Catalina as well as position Indigo for future functionality that you'll be hearing about in the coming months. Free adobe editor for windows.

Check out the Indigo 7.4 Release Notes for a list of all the improvements. Please note the app name and folder path changes mentioned at the top of that list.

One thing of note: this release may not be available to all Indigo customers for free. Specifically, if you've allowed your Up-to-Date Subscription to lapse, you won't have access to Indigo 7.4. Select the Indigo 7(.x)->License Details. menu item to see the details of your subscription. You can also check the Licenses section of your Indigo Account to see the subscription status and the last version you are eligible to use, or you can go to the new Downloads Page (make sure you're logged in to your Indigo Account) to see which releases you can download and use.

Many expired subscriptions are not yet past their catch-up deadline date, so you may be able to catch up your subscription to get access to Indigo 7.4 (otherwise you'll need to purchase a new license). We encourage you to do so - the subscription system is our way of continuing to bring you new features and functionality in a timely fashion.
